How does this technology work?
Self driving vehicles are created primarily using software in association with LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging). LiDAR is a technology that allows autonomous vehicles to "see" what is happening around them, and paired with software, allows for the vehicle to recognize different objects, including traffic signs, traffic lights, other cars, speed limits and bumps, people, and cyclists. After processing this data, the software in the car decides to brake, accelerate, turn in relation to the final destination, or deploy airbags.
